Founded in 2006, HSPMR is a non-profit organization formed for physicians licensed to practice medicine and surgery in the State of Hawai‘i and the Pacific Basin whose principle interest is in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) or one of its branches. HSPMR is dedicated to the unification of all qualified PM&R practitioners in the State of Hawaii through the following aligning objectives:

:: Encourage and maintain the highest professional standards among practitioners of PM&R in the State of Hawai‘i and the Pacific Basin.

:: Promote and pursue the continuous improvement of the practice of PM&R throught dissemination and exchange of new ideas, information, and ongoing education.

:: Educate physicians in other specialties and allied health care providers about the specialty of PM&R as it applies to their clinical practice.

:: Communicate to the general public the goals and ideals of PM&R.

:: Promote and defend the interests of physically disabled people.

:: Serve as a representative body for the Physiatrists (practitioners of PM&R) of the State of Hawai‘i and the Pacific Basin before governmental, public, and private organizations whose activities relate to the medical specialty of PM&R.
